About the UMD Garden Crawl
The UMD Garden Crawl invites eligible UMD students to explore the University’s official campus Gardens throughout October and November. Participants can discover Gardens at their own pace, make original Captures of plants and garden features, and contribute Submissions that may appear as Observations on a separate Public submission map.

Why participate?
The Garden Crawl is an opportunity to spend time outdoors, learn more about campus landscapes, share garden life as verifiable Submissions, and take part in an experiment in verifiable community documentation.
The event is designed around original, in-person Captures. Proofmode associates a Capture with evidence about its time and location, and the resulting Attestation can be checked independently.
What makes a Submission verifiable?
A Submission is verifiable when original Proofmode Capture evidence can be independently checked against the event’s rules. See the full rule set on Compete.
Current eligibility assumption
The working assumption is that participation is limited to eligible UMD students who are physically affiliated with the University of Maryland during the event. The organizers still need to confirm the final treatment of undergraduate, graduate, online, visiting-student, and age requirements (provisional — pending organizer approval).
A note about public visibility
The event is designed for public transparency: some Submission details appear on the Public submission map, while names and contact details do not. Read the canonical field list on Privacy before participating.
