Proofmode
Set these options before you visit a Garden, then use Proofmode’s camera to make a Capture. The steps below are for eligible students. In-app names can shift slightly by version; if a screen looks different, follow the event team’s latest walkthrough.
What is Proofmode?
Proofmode is a free, open-source camera app built by the Guardian Project. Every photo it takes carries its own evidence — sensor data, a device signature, and location details — bound to the image the instant you press the shutter, not attached afterward.
That’s why it’s the only camera this event accepts. A Garden Crawl Submission has to be checkable by anyone, not just by us, so every entry needs a Capture whose proof can be independently verified — the same glass-to-glass chain the rest of this site explains. The steps below get Proofmode configured before you visit a Garden.

Set up Proofmode
Location settings
- 1Open Settings, then Location.
- 2Turn on Location sharing — allow only while using the app.
- 3Turn on Location Protocol Attestation.
Location evidence is how the event checks a Capture happened inside a published Submission area.
Wallet settings
- 1Connect or confirm the wallet that gives you a Wallet address.
- 2Choose the Sepolia network.
- 3Turn on Auto-attest on Capture.
Your Wallet address is the public identifier on your Attestations — your name, email, and phone are never shown.
Auto Sync and IPFS
- 1Open the Filebase/IPFS settings.
- 2Paste the organizer-provided upload token.
Secret handling
Never share or publish the upload token. Paste it only inside Proofmode.
- 3Select Test Connection and wait for success.
- 4Turn on media uploads and automatic uploads, then save.
Before your first Capture
- Camera permission enabled

Make a Capture
Return to the gallery and use Proofmode’s in-app camera — imported media is not supported for this event. Stay inside a published Submission area, then make an original Capture related to the Garden.
With Auto-attest and automatic uploads on, Proofmode creates a Capture and Proofset, submits the Attestation, and uploads media to the event’s IPFS node.
Failed uploads or transactions
Keep the Capture. If an upload fails, reopen it in Proofmode and try Upload to Filebase again — if Test Connection failed earlier, fix Auto Sync first.
If an on-chain transaction fails, resend the Attestation — for example Notarize On-Chain from the share menu. Keep the app open until it finishes, and don’t delete the Capture while you retry.
